Paddy “The Baddy” Pimblett is one of the biggest stars in the UFC just three fights into his UFC career. He has recently stated that a super fight between him and Irishman Conor McGregor would be the “biggest PPV in UFC history”.
Paddy’s UFC Career So Far
Despite Paddy “The Baddy” having just three fights in the UFC, he is already a bonafide superstar. His recent win over Jordan Leavitt, followed by his emotional post-fight speech has sent his career into the stratosphere. Paddy resonates with many fans worldwide. He comes from a working-class background, shedding light on real-world problems and is an advocate for mental health. He brings in a cult following wherever he goes. The McGregor comparisons span back to his Cage Warrior days, where he created a huge fanbase through his happy-go-lucky and comedic persona. Despite his current record not being anywhere near that of McGregor’s, Paddy is still in the infancy stage of his UFC career. Whereas McGregor is nearing the end.
Paddy Pimblett and His Relationship With McGregor
When asked about the possibility of McGregor match up, Paddy said the following “You never know lad, me and him might end up fighting, it’s a possibility”. He went on to say “We can come back down to 155. That would be the biggest pay-per-view in the history of the UFC”. Pimblett seems to have a good relationship with McGregor as of late. He mentioned that both himself and “Meatball” Molly McCann were drinking and eating in the Irishman’s pub, while on facetime with the man himself. Paddy went on to say that McGregor mentioned his speech, and “sorted the bill out” for the two.
Paddy and McGregor seem to have a good relationship currently, but there’s no denying that if they ever shared the octagon, it would be fireworks. The biggest rising star in the UFC vs the biggest star the UFC has ever seen. McGregor is currently back in training after suffering a broken leg in his fight against Dustin Poirier back in July 2021. Paddy is currently fighting through the ranks, trying to edge closer to that top 15 in the lightweight division.
It’s not so clear what the future holds for McGregor. But a fight between himself and Liverpool’s own Paddy Pimblett would definitely get the fans talking!
