The UFC’s newest ‘cash cow’ Paddy ‘the Baddy’ Pimblett makes the jump to the co-main event this weekend against Jared Gordon at UFC 282.
The Liverpudlian has taken the world by storm since his entrance into the promotion. Now, he faces arguably his biggest step up in competition in Gordon.
Paddy Pimblett
The Scouse superstar has stolen the hearts of MMA fans around the world with his charm and fan-friendly attitude and plans to take the long road to the top.
Following a successful Cage Warrior’s career, Pimblett made the step up to the UFC. During his time in the European promotion, he became one of their biggest stars. Debuting with a first-round knockout win over Luigi Vendramini in Vegas, the Next Generation MMA fighter had back-to-back wins at the 02 in London. Wins over Rodrigo Vargas and Jordan Leavitt showcased Pimblett wasn’t just all mouth. Pimblett has displayed both his striking and grappling talent during his first three bouts.
The young fighter from Liverpool has not been in the UFC for long but has easily become a top draw in the UFC. And whilst he has been compared by many to Conor McGregor, Pimblett has no intention of being rushed to the top like the Irishman was.
Pimblett must not take Gordon lightly however, the 19-5 fighter is not one to be trifled with.
Jared Gordon
This weekend Jared Gordon will have the biggest opportunity of his life. This is Gordon’s first PPV main event and will be hoping to shock the world. Although many will be tuning in to watch Gordon’s opponent, this could be a chance for the American to shine.
Gordon has fought a who’s who in the lightweight division including former champion Charles Oliveira. With over 10 fights in the UFC Gordon is currently 4-1 in his last five in the best stretch he’s had in the promotion.
A win over Pimblett would be a career-defining moment for Gordon and make him a man to beat at 155lbs
Prediction – Paddy Pimblett def Jared Gordon by knockout
