Paul Craig is set to return to Brazil for UFC 283 this month and face the home fighter in Johnny Walker. The Scotsman doesn’t expect Walker to stand a strike with him, which may be a surprise to some.
Craig is aiming to return to the win column after his momentum was broken by Volkan Oezdemir at UFC London last July. Prior to that, Craig was on his way to earning a crack at light heavyweight gold. A statement win over Walker in his own backyard will put the submission specialist back in the conversation.
Walker broke his three-fight losing streak in September at UFC 279 after submitting Ion Cutelaba in the first round. The win marked the Brazilian’s first submission win inside the UFC.
Paul Craig Reveals UFC 282 Prediction for Johnny Walker
Craig’s prediction for the fight may surprise some, but now training under a new gym and coach, the Higher Level MMA fighter expects to score a knockout over Walker.
“[It’s] one of these things, you’ll take it (a knockout) as quick as you can,” Paul Craig told James Lynch during an interview with Fanatics View. “Once (Johnny) Walker feels actually how strong I am, I think you might find that he’s gonna actually try and shoot (for a takedown).”
“I think when feels the power in my hands, and in my legs, he’s gonna be blown away actually – as most people are,” Paul Craig continued. “I went three rounds with (Magomed) Ankalaev, and that was the thing – he switched up his stance, with the power in my legs, the power in my kicks, the power in my hands. And I don’t think Johnny Walker is ready for what I’ve got.”
