Scotland’s Paul Craig is going nowhere. The 34-year-old has re-signed a multi-fight deal with the UFC and has detailed the deal as “huge”.
The re-signing with the company comes after the exciting announcement that Paul Craig would fight Johnny Walker at UFC 283 in Brazil. The light heavyweight match-up is a fan-friendly fight that is bound to have the Brazilians on their feet. Craig enters the contest at No. 9 ranked in the division, with Walker breathing down the Scotsman’s neck at No. 11.
UFC 283 will take place Saturday, January 21st, in Brazil, Rio De Janeiro, at the Jeunesse Arena. The fight card is headlined by flyweights Deiveson Figueredo and Brandon Morendo, who look to close their book in a never-ending rivalry.
Craig’s management, Paradigm Sports, confirmed the re-signing on Twitter.
Paul Craig Re-Signs With the UFC
Despite dropping his last fight with Volkan Oezdemir in August earlier this year, Craig has been riding the best form of his career inside the UFC, which has obviously been respected by the company with the new “huge” deal that was put on the table.
Excluding the Oezdemir contest, “Bearjew” was running through all of his opposition and collecting $50,0000 bonuses in the process. From 2019 to March 2022, Craig stopped Vinicius Moreira, Gadzhimurad Antigulov, Maurício Rua, Jamahal Hill, and Nikita Krylov, which deemed the Scottish native as the “darkhorse” of the division. A fight nobody was openly holding their hands up to.
Craig has the opportunity to bounce back from the minor setback in January, and a statement over Walker in his backyard would catapult him back into the title conversations. The famous hostile Brazilian atmosphere won’t faze the light heavyweight, having experienced it all before.
