Paul Craig will face Johnny Walker at UFC 283 on January 21st in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The fight booking was first reported by @AgFight. The confirmation of the bout comes after the pair exchanged words on social media earlier in the week.
Walker called out the Scotsman in an interview, which Craig didn’t take kindly to responding: “Be careful what you wish for.”
Where it Started Between Paul Craig and Johnny Walker
Craig was cruising his way through the light heavyweight until his most recent outing, where he dropped a unanimous decision to Volkan Oezdemir in London.
Prior to that, the 34-year-old was on a path of destruction, attaining wins over Gadzhimurad Antigulov, Maurício Rua, Jamahal Hill and Nikita Krylov. Perhaps ill-prepared for his fight with Volkan Oezdemir due to some issues within the camp, Craig will be looking at the match-up with the Brazilian as a significant opportunity to make a stamp on the division, as he’s done numerous times.
Walker has been incredibly inconsistent as of late, winning just two from his last six, and has been on the wrong end of some highlight-reel knockouts to Corey Anderson and Jamahal Hill.
However, the Brazil native is fresh from a round-one rear-naked-choke victory over Ion Cutelaba at UFC 279, which marked his first victory inside the UFC by submission.
