Paul Daley (42-18-1) stepped into the Octagon for the final time as he closed the curtain on his career, where he came out of the fight with a huge KO victory in the second round.
Giacomo was doing incredibly well controlling Semtex with his jiujitsu and ground control. Up until the point in which Daley reversed the position putting himself on top, forcing Giacomo to make his way to the feet and back up against the cage. Daley threw a multitude of shots before landing a huge left-handed hook to the body, followed by an explosive right rook to knock his opponent out. A fantastic way to end the career of Paul Daley.
A Pioneer of the Sport
Considered to be one of the pioneers in British MMA, he has been fighting professionally since 2003. He has participated in Cage Rage, Strikeforce, Pancrase, Cage Warriors, MFC, Impact, BAMMA, and the UFC, just to name a few.
Over Daley’s career, he has been known to have extremely strong stand-up and explosive hands, hence the nickname Semtex. His insane punching power has led to 34 out of his 42 wins have come by way of KO/TKO, with the other eight by decision. He has defeated some huge names in his career, including and not limited to Duane Ludwig, Martin Kampmann, and Jorge Masvidal!
Wendell “White Walker” Giácomo was riding a two win-streak and a record of 9-2 (now 9-3 )coming into this bout on short notice. He won previous fights via Anaconda Choke against Anderson Nascimento at Macaiba Fight 2 and by unanimous decision against Uyran Carlos at LFA 112, riding some considerable momentum leading up to this one.
Could Daley have finished his career any better?
