As the countdown begins for British Fighting Championship 5, all eyes are on Paul Elliott as he prepares to step back into the cage against Ryan Franklin in Middlesborough on April 13th. Catching up with Elliott ahead of his highly anticipated bout, we delved into his mindset and preparations for the upcoming fight.
“I’ve been ok thanks, feeling good being back to full training and preparation is going well,” Elliott shared when asked about his current state and training regimen.
Reflecting on his previous bout under the ONE Banner, Elliott acknowledged that things didn’t quite go as planned:
“Things obviously didn’t go to plan while competing in ONE but that’s the fight game. A Few little mistakes can cost you when you’re stepping in there with high level competition. I’m only going to get better because of my experience there,” he commented.

With his focus now shifted back to the regional scene, Elliott outlined his goals for the upcoming fight:
“My goal is to get a big win against Ryan and hopefully build some momentum going forward. I’m still with ONE; they’ve just allowed me to compete on this show with it being my first one back after surgery,” he explained.
Despite being considered the favorite against Franklin, Elliottt emphasized the importance of not underestimating his opponent:
“I understand why people would think that, but like you said, this is the big boys swinging so I’m certainly not going to underestimate him. I’ll be keeping switched on and focused no matter what,” he stated.
Regarding Franklin’s potential threat, Elliott remained confident in his abilities: “He has the potential to land a big haymaker and cause an upset, but I believe that’s going to be his only hope. That being said, the chances of that happening are very slim, I believe. On the feet and on the ground, I’ll have an answer for everything he brings,” he affirmed.
