Petr Yan battled more than just his opponent at UFC 299 despite emerging victorious from his main event opener.
The former Bantamweight champion returned to the win column via a unanimous decision victory against the #7 ranked Bantamweight Song Yadong. The Russian fighter has confirmed on social media that he will undergo surgery tomorrow. Yan has a torn meniscus, ruptured ACL and groin injury sustained during his fight in the Miami Kaseya Center.

He took to X to reassure fans that “nothing will break me” and that he will return “stronger than ever in no time” regardless of the injury setback.
Petr Yan performed to remember after a tough first round where Yadong showed greater grappling. Yan found his feet winning the following two rounds convincingly outstriking Song and sustaining the fast pace till the final bell.
It has yet to be announced how long the injury setback will have him sidelined but after ending a three-fight losing streak the injuries sustained are a disappointment for the fighter and fans.
