Finally, the PFL will come to the UK to host some events. With many UK talents, it was only a matter of time before the Professional Fight League stepped foot on British shores. Announcing two dates and venues for their 2022 Semi-Finals.
The first will be Saturday the 13th of August, where the Featherweights and Heavyweights will compete. Secondly will be on the 20th of August, which will see the Welterweights and women’s Lightweights showdown.
Where?
August 13th’s show will take place in Cardiff, Wales. The venue will be the Cardiff Motorpoint Arena, with a capacity of around 5,000 I’m sure this will be easily filled come fight night. The second event, on the 20th of August, will be at London’s famous Copperbox Arena. This event will be slightly bigger with a capacity of around 7,500, once again the British fans will fill that with no problems.
The Announcement
The PFL’s UK talent
Recently announcing a deal with Channel 4 to broadcast the PFL main cards in the UK. With the UK talent competing in the organisation, it’s becoming one of the hottest places to be in the MMA world. Including the massive success of both the UFC’s and Bellator’s recent London events, it’s no surprise the PFL are following suit.
Brendan Loughnane
A hotbed of talent globally for the UK now, with many top stars being positioned highly in many of the top companies. PFL have their fair share of top Brits who compete under their banner. Most Notably, Brendan Loughnane. Brendan has made himself a mainstay in the company as well as one of its top stars. Unsuccessful last year, losing a split decision in the semis. Loughnane is a man on a mission and looking to be crowned the 2022 Featherweight champ.
Stevie Ray
Other competitors such as Stevie Ray are also looking to make a splash. Competing as a Lightweight Ray won’t be competing at either event should he make it to the semis. However, With an impressive win, next time out we might just see the PFL head to Scotland, with Stevie front and centre. News has just been announced to be competing against MMA megastar Anthony Pettis. Now with added incentive to go far in this year’s tournament. Make sure you watch Stevie compete against Anthony in June.
Simeon Powell
Two more Brits fight in the ranks of the PFL’s staked roster. One of which is the talented 23-year-old Simeon Powell. After an extremely impressive win last time out, Powell has positioned himself to be one of the UK’s brightest prospects. He will play a big part in any future UK cards.
Stuart Austin
Finally, we have heavyweight Stuart Austin. Unfortunately losing in his debut, drawing last year’s heavyweight champ. Austin will be looking to bounce back and make a run at the top. Should he make it to the semi-finals Austin will compete on the August 13th show in Cardiff.
