PFL Challenger Series Week 6 – Featherweights
Ago Huskic +410
Ago Huskic vs Gabriel Braga
Huskic may be coming off of three losses, but this dude can fight and that is why we are seeing him on the PFL Challenger Series. He fought the PFL featherweight champion, Brendan Loughnane in his last fight and gave a good account of himself. Ago hits very hard. Even Loughnane himself said he was surprised by the Bosnian’s power. Huskic is well rounded and looks to be in the best shape of his life.
Braga is an undefeated Brazilian fighter. He is 8-0 with 4 finishes. He hasn’t fought nearly the level of competition that Huskic has and he hasn’t been dominant. Braga is a striker that has good footwork. He chooses his punches very well and has shown great accuracy. He is a bit slow and I really question his gas tank. When the fight gets going, Braga is there to be hit
I couldn’t believe the line when I saw it. Getting Huskic at +410 is a gift from the gods. I Love Huskic as a dog!
Parlay – James Gonzalez + David Evans = -130
James Gonzalez vs Vikas Singh Ruhil
James Gonzalez is coming off of the biggest win in his career against Cody Law. Law was a -700 favorite coming into that fight and Gonzalez fought a great fight, capped off by a dominant third round to win a decision over Law.
Gonzalez fights out of Longo and Weidman MMA and has fought decent competition throughout his 9-5 career. However, the same cannot be said for Ruhil.
Ruhil is an Indian fighter. The Indian standout is on a 7 fight winning streak, but against very low level competition. He prefers taking his opponents to the ground, but Ruhil is very stiff, Lacking natural athleticism
Gonzalez is a huge favorite and for good reason. The PFL Challenger Series will sometimes set certain guys up for success. Gonzalez has fought the tougher competition and will have a decent size advantage. This is a perfect parlay piece and if you can get the Gonzalez inside the distance prop I would take it.
Brahyan Zurcher vs David Evans
Zurcher is only 4-0, but he is a two time winner in the PFL already. He puts on an insane pace. Brahyan is one of those fighters that isn’t really good anywhere, but he isn’t bad anywhere either. He reminds me a bit of Youssef Zalal. Zurcher’s biggest talent is his pace and cardio.
Evans is 5-1 and is 1-1 in his last two fights. He has a style that can translate into success against Zurcher. Evans is a great grappler and throws straight punches. Zurcher has questionable takedown defense and is very hitable.
There has been some big line movement this week in Evans direction and I completely get it. David Evans is the bet.
Conclusion
These PFL Challenger Series fights are low level MMA. In low level MMA there is a very high variance of outcomes. As always gamble responsibly!
