PFL Challenger Series Week 7 takes place on March 10th, 2023 at Universal Studios, Orlando, Florida. Week 7 features 4 light heavyweight fights and they are all battling it out for that PFL contract. There may be 4 fights, but there is only one contract. PFL Challenger series is low level MMA. With low level MMA comes high variance outcomes. Make sure you keep that in mind while placing your bets. With that said, you will never find better lines than with these low level MMA fights. Bookies have become increasingly sharp over the years, but they are still behind the 8 ball with these fights and that gives us a betting advantage. These are the best bets for PFL Challenger Series week 7
PFL Best Bets Light Heavyweights
Roland Dunlap -115
Dunlap is taking on Monte Morrison. Morrison is a kick boxer. He’s patient in the cage and throws with big power when given the chance. Both fighters sit at a perfect 3-0. Although Morrison is the more decorated striker, he is very hitable and that won’t be good against a guy like Roland Dunlap. Dunlap has a karate style on the feet and that style, paired with his high school and college wrestling background, make Dunlap a hard fighter to deal with. Morrison struggles with grappling and I expect Dunlap to be the more complete fighter. The line is right at -115.
Billy Elekana -140
Elekana may only be 4-1 as a professional, but he had an extensive amateur career. As an amateur he fought and beat the likes of Bellator standout Sullivan Cauley and TUF winner Bryan Battle. Billy Elekana takes that experience into his PFL Challenger Series fight with Tristan Overvig. Overvig is a grappling specialist. This guy can submit you from the top or bottom and he’s proven that with all 5 of his professional wins coming by way of submission.
At 23 years old Overvig has a lot of room for improvement. He lacks size to be a true contender at 205. With lack of size one would expect other advantages such as speed and cardio; Tristan Overvig lacks both of those traits. Elekana may have lost his last fight, but he showed some good takedown defense early. One should fully expect Elekana to defend some takedowns and make Overvig pay. -140 for a fighter with more experience, more cardio and more tools makes for a juicy bet.
These next two bets are ones you should take if you have the lines available. Not every book will have these lines.
Taylor Johnson by Submission +225
Johnson is leaps and bounds ahead of his opponent here. He can win this however he wants and I promise you Johnson wants to win by Submission. It’s his bread and butter.
Impa Kasaganay by TKO +175
Former UFC middle and welterweight is now up to 205. Impa is not a small man and he looks great in his new weight class. If you have never watched him fight you are in for a treat. Impa is an incredible athlete and has a very winnable matchup. This fight will not last long.
In Conclusion
PFL Challenger Series Week 7 is going to be a great event. I really feel that we have an advantage against the books this week. Good luck and gamble responsibly
