The PFL has been making some major moves in MMA over the past couple of days. On Tuesday, the promotion announced its Champion vs. Champion card containing massive fights between champions of their promotion and champions from newly acquired Bellator. The card has garnered much attention, and the PFL kept the ball rolling by announcing some more big news today.
PFL Europe’s 2024 season schedule has been announced with some big stops along the way. The first event will be held in Paris, France on March 7th and has already had its headliner announced. In what potentially is the biggest fight in the history of French MMA, former Glory kickboxer Cedric Doumbe will square off with Ares FC welterweight champion Baissangour “Baki” Chamsoudinov.
PFL Europe: Cedric Doumbe vs. Baissangour Chamsoudinov
Doumbe amassed much popularity after his KO win over Jordan Zebo in the headliner of last year’s PFL Paris event. He’ll put his undefeated record (5-0) on the line against Chamsoudinov, who also sports a flawless record (8-0). Chamsoudinov is a top prospect in MMA and represents a massive test for Doumbe in just his second PFL fight.
The two have exchanged barbs on social media in the past, leading to a highly anticipated fight by many, not just France. Tickets sold out within 2 hours of being released, showing the star power we have on our hands here.
PFL Schedule
Also included on the schedule for PFL Europe is an event in Newcastle, England on June 8th. PFL Europe 1 this past year was held in Newcastle, and featured major upcoming names such as Dakota Ditcheva, Jakob Nedoh, Simeon Powell, and Lewis McGrillen. The event in Newcastle this year is sure to feature some of the same, along with new, exciting names.
The last announced destination is new territory for the PFL, marking their debut in Glasgow, Scotland on September 28th. The promotion has always talked about breaking into new territory, especially in Europe, and that will continue this year.
Another event that is yet to be announced will also be taking place following the event in Glasgow, likely towards the end of the year.
