The PFL Europe finals came to Dublin on Friday night, and a flyweight clash between Dakota Ditcheva and Valentina Scatizzi featured on this exciting card.
Manchester’s Ditcheva reached the final of the women’s flyweight tournament by beating Malin Hermansson via first round submission in the quarter-final. She then went on to produce one of the best performances of her career in the semi-final by knocking out Cornelia Holm in the third round in September. The KO was one for the highlight reel as Ditcheva landed a left straight to the body before hitting her opponent with a right hook to the head. She finished the fight emphatically with a head kick.
Entering the fight, the 25-year-old holds a perfect professional record of 9-0 and is a hot prospect for the future.
Valentina Scatizzi, who fights out of Straight Blast Gym in Ireland, comes into this bout with a record of 2-1. The Italian beat Lizzy Gevers by split decision at PFL Europe 1 back in March. She now has the opportunity of a lifetime against the favourite Ditcheva.
Originally, a win in the PFL Europe finals would have meant advancement to the global tournament for the chance to win $1 million dollars. Since the PFL’s acquisition of Bellator, it has become unclear what direction the promotion will take after the companies combined.
