PFL Europe comes to a conclusion this Friday, on the main card is an exciting fight between Lewis McGrillen-Evans and Weslley Maia.
Lewis McGirllen-Evans bring with him an 8-0 record going into this fight. The Englishman is coming off a win at PFL Europe 2, scoring a finish after 2 seconds in the second round. That finish secured him his eighth win by finish, Lewis accumulating an impeccable record that brings guaranteed excitement.
His opponent has come across from Cage Warriors and brings a 2 fight-winning streak. The contest will be in the bantamweight decision at the top of the prelims.
PFL Europe 4: Weslley Maia Defeats Lewis McGrillen
Round 1: McGrillen starts bouncy earlier in his wide southpaw stance. Maia lands the first strike with a clean leg kick. Maia cracks Lewis with a straight right shot that sent McGrillen stumbling into the cage. The pair exchange hands and kick wildly, Maia looks to have started the stronger of the 2 and secures a takedown midway through the first round. After around 90 seconds on the floor McGrillen worked his way up but was quickly returned to the mat. The round ends with Maia on top.
Round 2: Maia comes out swinging and stumbles McGrillen again, then secures another high-powered takedown. After an unsuccessful attempt at a reverse triangle, McGrillen manages to get the fight back to the feet where he’s wrestled back to the fence. The clinch then broke up and the fighters exchanged hands on their feet. Maia looked to tired towards the end of the round allowing McGrillen to start to get his range.
Round 3: McGrillen started fast in the third and pushed Maia against the fence and landed a series of straight lefts that looked to hurt Maia. McGrillen entered his flow in the early parts of this round and landed some slick left hands. The pair continued to tussle along the fence with McGrillen showing better takedown defence, Maia seemed content to look for the takedown and try to secure the decision.
