PFL have been making leaps and bounds in the MMA world since their inception. Recently breaking into the UK scene, they have several top fighters from British shores. This has led them to set up two shows, one in London and one in Cardiff. These two events will be the first two that have been outside America.
The UK and Irish markets are ones with plenty of potential. You only have to look as far as the UFC events held here to see that. The UK fans get behind their own. This has seen fighters rise to superstardom from relative obscurity. Now PFL looks to make the jump into the European market and make some stars for that region.
European League 2023
The Professional Fight League has a tournament-style system. One that’s fresh and exciting and adds to the event as a whole. This European exposition will be separate from their usual brackets but will give the fighters a chance to compete for the big one should they impress.
With a wealth of European talents already, the PFL is looking to expand and become one of the leaders in this area. Alongside the UK talent like Brendan Loughnane and Stevie Ray among others. They have top contenders in several divisions who represent Europe.
Ante Delija, is a heavyweight semi-finalist from Croatia. Omari Akhmedov, a Russian light heavyweight semi-finalist. Sadibou Sy will represent Sweden in the welterweight semi-finals. Then two women who will compete in the lightweight semi-finals as Ukraine’s Olena Kolesnyk and The Czech Republic’s Martina Jindrová look for spots in the final. There are plenty more, these are just the semi-finalists.
The European Scene
The MMA scene in Europe is severely overlooked. With world-class fighters dotted about all over the world’s top promotions. It was only a matter of time before a big American company came to poach some of the top martial artists the continent has to offer.
With Cage Warriors and KSW leading the way for European promotions, you don’t have to look much further to see elite fighters on display. With a whole host of other top promotions, each with their superstars in the making, just waiting to show what they’re about.
Is this exposure long overdue for the European scene?
