Ahead of KSW 79, Phil De Fries assured fans that his rematch with Todd Duffee would have a different outcome, and he was right.
De Fries crushed Duffee with ease at KSW 79 in Liberec, Czech Republic. The Brit was in complete control of the fight from the moment the first bell went, eventually utilizing ground-and-pound and forcing the referee to stop the contest at 3 minutes 46 seconds of the first round.
Duffee, who made his first appearance tonight since retiring nearly four years ago, found out the hard way that long periods away from competition will cost you. De Fries promised to seek redemption after Duffee secured a first-round TKO of his own against de Fries back at UFC 155 over a decade ago.
“It feels good, you know,” De Fries said afterward. “I’ve got a lot of respect for Todd. He’s a great fighter, but I’m the man now, and that’s the way it’s gonna stay.”

After making his eighth consecutive heavyweight title defense, De Fries already had an idea of what he would like next. KSW will host a stadium show in Warsaw, Poland, on June 3, and he wants involved and wants the man across from him to be Alistair Overeem.
“That’s the day,” De Fries said. “Me, Overeem, 56,000 people, good times.”
