Michael Page reflects on UFC debut and hopes to face off with Ian Garry later this year.
Human highlight reel Michael “Venom” Page made his highly anticipated UFC debut at UFC 299 handily beating Kevin Holland. Although victorious, Page told The MMA Hour he showed “60%” and was left “P*ssed off” after his Unanimous decision win.
“This last fight I feel like I was 60% of myself genuinely… I was so harsh on myself, I was p*ssed off because I felt like I could’ve done more”
UFC 299 Debut
Though not satisfied with his performance Page claimed his UFC arrival was “timed perfectly” and that “If my career had ended before [UFC debut] I’d be happy with what I’ve achieved considering I hadn’t gone to the bigger show, but now that I’m here I’m glad that I’m here”.
UFC 299 saw the likes of Petr Yan, Dustin Poirier and Sean O’Malley on the main card alongside Page. But few shook the crowd like “Venom’s” Undertaker-inspired walkout.
“P*ssed Off” Michael Page Eyes Ian Garry Fight Next
Michael Page hinted that he isn’t waiting around for matchups with a potential fight lined up in July as he eyes Ian Garry next. The performer Page aspires for a quick turnaround to fight again on UFC 306 at the Sphere in Las Vegas.
“I love to be active, if this July comes to fruition I would love to do September… Only because of the Sphere, my creative mind is like ‘my walkout is going to be insane’, I’m not even doing it for the fight I’m doing it for the walkout”.
Page went on to say “Looking at the rankings the fight that makes the most sense would be Ian Garry”.
Given the two fighters shared love for the standup and respective popularity this bout could certainly be on the radar of upcoming main events.
