Ramazan Temirov Gets The Unanimous Decision Victory over Charles Johnson
UFC Vegas 103 suffered two fight cancellations before the event began. The preliminary card opened with an electrifying flyweight fight. #12-ranked Charles Johnson faced rising prospect Ramazan Temirov in a high-stakes matchup. Temirov earned a Performance of the Night bonus in his UFC debut. He aimed to crack the division’s top 15 in just his second UFC fight. Johnson entered the fight on a four-fight win streak with two post-fight bonuses.
This fight began with Charles Johnson pressing forward in his southpaw stance. However, Temirov would quickly make his presence known with spinning attacks and a crisp right hand which forced Charles Johnson onto the back foot. A powerful right hand from Temirov prompted Johnson to shoot for a takedown. However, Temirov’s defence would hold strong. Throughout the first round, Temirov would dictate the pace, landing heavy body kicks and overhand rights while Charles Johnson struggled to gain momentum.
Charles Johnson would then make adjustments in the second round. This was by pressuring Temirov and attempting takedowns against the fence. Though Temirov continued to look for a knockout shot, Charles Johnson’s defence and movement kept him out of serious trouble. Charles Johnson’s relentless forward pressure and clinch work, including well-placed elbows, made for a much more competitive round.
The third round would see Charles Johnson continue his aggressive approach. He did this by pushing Temirov against the cage and wearing on the young prospect’s gas tank. Temirov would then attempt a takedown, however, couldn’t control it, and as fatigue set in, his hands dropped significantly. Johnson would be able to capitalise with suffocating forward pressure, keeping Temirov on the back foot and against the fence. Despite his exhaustion, Temirov hung through, and the two exchanged strikes in the clinch until the final bell in what was an exciting and closely contested fight.
After three hard-fought rounds, all three judges scored the fight 29-28 for Ramazan Temirov. This meant Ramazan Temirov would improve to 2-0 in the UFC and extend his win streak to eleven fights.
What is next for Temirov
With a second UFC victory under his belt and riding an eleven-fight win streak, Temirov has established himself as a serious threat in the flyweight division. His victory over a ranked opponent like Charles Johnson could propel him into the top 15 setting up a potential showdown against another contender. A fight against a top 10 veteran such as Matt Schnell could provide a further test of his skills.
Temirov’s aggressive style and knockout power make him a must-watch in the division, but refining his cardio and pacing will be crucial as he faces increasingly tougher competition. Regardless of who he faces next, Temirov has proven he belongs among the UFC’s flyweight elite, and his next fight could bring him even closer to title contention.
