As British Fighting Championship 5 draws near, anticipation mounts for the clash between Razvan Tanase and Matthew Hall in Middlesbrough on April 13th. In an exclusive interview, Tanase shares insights into his preparations and mindset leading up to the fight.
“This fight camp was the hardest camp I had leading up to a fight due amount of training I put in different areas and especially that I formally competed as a HW, I lost 14kg in 3 months to be at weight for this bout which as hard as its been I can see the benefits now being much faster and much sharper. And in terms of what I did different is training with bigger guys and Pro fighters which helped me so much to evolve my game.”
Reflecting on his opponent’s strengths, Tanase acknowledges the challenge:
“I dont know much of my opponent apart from being same height as me and being a young hungry lad, but going by his nick name ”Heavy hands” I presume he possess some power and probably good striking, which is fine but he needs to catch me first and that’s not gonna be an easy task, and lets not forget I competed at HW so power wont be a problem for me either.”

When asked about exploiting weaknesses, Tanase remains focused on his own game plan:
“Again, dont know much of my opponent , my plan is to focus on what I can do best. 100% Focus and sharpness, its a chess game, so planning to always have 2-3 moves ahead of him and making the correct ones in the split second.”
Looking ahead to the fight, Tanase emphasizes versatility. “In terms of prediction Im planning to have my hand raised by all means necessary and I think its going to be an exiting fight where we going to show multiple areas of mixed martial arts.”
Before stepping into the cage, Tanase extends a message to his opponent: “We are going to try and kill each other for three rounds but at end of the day I am a martial artist and I respect him for stepping into the cage and making the walk, nothing but respect.”
