Cage Warriors adds a high-level Bantamweight showdown to their already impressive April 15th fight card. Scotland’s Reece McEwan returns to action to take on Dutch Daan Duijs with a potential Bantamweight title shot in touching distance.
Each man enters the fight in fine form. Reece has been a force since first donning the yellow gloves. With three Cage Warriors fights in the books he has won all three, finishing two of them. Right at the top of the division, a win here could very well see McEwan challenge for gold very soon. With an overall record of 6-1, he has five finishes.
His counterpart Duijs isn’t quite as far along in his Cage Warriors career. Despite only having one fight, and win, inside the CW cage, he has a wealth of experience elsewhere. 8-1 overall with a two-fight winning streak he has amassed an impressive six finishes.
Fight Fire with Fire
Matchmaking at its finest, these two come to the cage to fight. Both have excellent skills on the mat, each holding submission and TKO victories on the ground. A similarity in styles could see them try to impose their will in the stand-up department.
For Reece McEwan, his game is ever-evolving and his striking improves fight after fight. You need to look no further than his spectacular head-kick knockdown against Kingsley Crawford at CW 141, where he won via unanimous decision. Building on an already stellar grappling pedigree could see Reece move to the next level.
Daan Duijs is a slightly more unknown quantity when it comes to Cage Warriors. Making his debut last time out against the experienced Bogdan Barbu at CW 137. He’d win the bout comfortably in the first with a slick triangle choke. Looking to claim a huge scalp and take McEwan’s position in the division, expect a war on April 15th.
