After this, fans were eager to find out when he was stepping back into the cage.
Hand Surgery
Shore released an injury update following UFC 286, where he stated that he required serious hand surgery. This removed him from the fight conversation for the foreseeable future. August 2023 saw a post- operation update, where he detailed that two metacarpals were fused. After months recovery, training where possible, Shore was finally given the all clear to compete again. February 2024 saw the announcement of his next fight at UFC 301.
Shore vs Brito- Tale of the Tape
Shore will square off against Brazil’s own Joanderson Brito at UFC 301. Boasting an impressive 16-3 professional record, he provides Shore with many challenges to overcome. 15 of Brito’s wins are via submission or TKO. Brito never shies away from the fire and often lures opponents into a brawl. He is currently on a four fight win streak, all via finish. With a wild and unorthodox fight style, fans can expect fireworks in this bout.
Shore boasts a 17-1 record with 13 finishes, 8 of these finishes by way of his signature submission- rear naked choke. A composed and calculated fighter who often finds success in grappling exchanges. Shore’s striking often goes unmentioned due to his elite grappling. However, Shore expresses no hesitancy to trade on the feet. The Welshman has expressed his eagerness to return, and do so in impressive fashion.
On first glance this bout appears to be striker vs grappler. However, both fighters have shown dominance in all aspects of the game. With just under a week to go, fans are left eagerly anticipating the outcome of this bout. Can the Welshman upset the hometown hero? Stay tuned for updates as we edge closer to the return of the tank at UFC 301.
