Richie Bonallie is eager to lock horns with a “game” opponent in Jonny Brocklesby at Rise and Conquer 13.
The North East based promotion are set to host their thirteenth show on October 7th. The Rainton Arena will play host to a spectacular night of action.
Ahead of fight night, we had the chance to talk with one man among the action in professional mixed martial artist Richie Bonallie. Hear what he had to say below.
Interview With Richie Bonallie
Richie, you’re preparing to make the walk again in Rise and Conquers’ upcoming show next month. How have things been since returning to the win column in your most recent outing?
I initially got straight back into training the next day, slim, buzzing and wanting to go again. Then, I eventually got fat and tired. Now I am getting back to where I was.
In your most recent outing, you bagged a first-round stoppage and took out Carl Purvis. After two back-to-back defeats, how important was that victory, and what has that done to your confidence leading into this fight?
I’ve always said I’d pack in if I ever lost three in a row, so very important. Obviously, I feel like I’d beat Khabib now and pick him apart standing haha.
It took you three minutes to get rid of Carl. Upon reflection, how do you evaluate that performance? Anything in that three minutes you weren’t happy with?
I felt good, didn’t get took down or hit really. Think I missed with an uppercut at one point.
Richie Bonallie Talks Rise and Conquer 13
Rise and Conquer 13th, you’ll be met with Johnny Brocklesby. When this matchup was put to you, what were your initial thoughts? Is it matchup you like from a stylistic standpoint?
I just fight whoever Fisher says and trust his judgement. He doesn’t look like a staller or leg hugger, so that’s a bonus. He comes to fight.
Johnny comes into the fight with a 100% finish rate in his wins. What do you need to do in your game to ensure you don’t end up another stat on his record?
Should probably start watching him properly now then haha. Don’t get hit, took down or subbed.
Watching Tape
With that in mind, when you watch old tape of him, what do you see in his game? What does he do well you need to be cautious off, or perhaps not so well?
The little bits I watched he looked game. And few things I noticed I’ll keep to myself for now.
Jonny is lacking in activity. He’s not fought since 2021 after picking up two back-to-back losses. What are you expecting from him given his long period out, and do you feel that inactivity will hinder his performance on the night?
He’s coming to have a fight.
