Welsh amateur Roan Crocker took to social media earlier today and announced that he is dealing with serious neck injuries.
Statement from Roan:
“Hi guys, as some of you may already know, in my last fight back in August I sustained a neck injury during a scramble. I returned to training but unfortunately, this issue has deteriorated and I’m now not medically cleared to spar or do any contact training until I have an MRI scan.
As this scan has to be done privately, I’m looking for some sponsors to help me with my medical fees so that I can return to full training, rehab this injury and prepare for the new year. In return, I can offer you or your company exposure through my social media platforms and my fight kit.”
Roan’s recent activity:
Roan Crocker last fought in Cage Warriors Academy Wales back in August of this year. He defended the middleweight strap in a three-round featured bout against James Wamsley. Roan used his impressive wrestling and grappling skills to wear down his opponent, and eventually got a rear naked choke finish in the third round. It was during a scramble that Crocker, unfortunately, injured his neck. After successfully defending the title, Roan returned to SMMA and continued to work hard during training.
Crocker was recently promoted to a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. Head coach of Shore MMA Richard Shore stated “Roan is one of the most dedicated students in know. He trains 6 days a week and competes regularly in grappling and MMA.” High praise from one of the most respected men in Welsh MMA! Roan looks to return to training as soon as possible but must be cleared by doctors and specialists first.
How to help:
Crocker has reached out via social media to any potential sponsors who can help with medical fees. He looks to return to training next year. Any sponsors or organisations who are willing to support Roan with medical bills would be greatly appreciated by the young amateur. To help, please get in touch with Roan via social media, as stated in his post.
We wish Roan all the best and a speedy recovery here at combat sports UK!
