Interview With Rob Colclough
Rob, this week you’re set to make the walk for the second time in your career. Having gone through the fight week process, I felt the nerves and stepped foot in the cage. Is it easier to deal with this time, or are you still running through all the emotions?
I’m feeling good, but I will admit the nerves are there a bit more this time because I need to get the win this time.
Last year on Caged Steel, I believe you had a big crowd to watch you make your debut. Unfortunately, it didn’t go your way. How did you handle the defeat that night?
I handled it quite well. Obviously, I was gutted. I lost to the better man on the night. I made a few mistakes that iv learnt from, but yes, obviously, it’s not nice losing in front of a big crowd, but I feel I’ve made enough of an improvement to not let that happen again.
Having had a lot of time to reflect on your debut. What do you feel went wrong on the night?
To be honest, I don’t want to sound like I’m making excuses. I lost a fair fight. I know where I went wrong, and I’ve been training hard to make the improvements I needed to make.
Since then, you’ve had some time out. Was the plan to have this long of a window in-between fights, or have you been trying to get matched?
I didn’t really have a plan; I just wanted a bit of time to work on a few things, but I’m feeling good and ready for it.
Rob Colclough Talks Fight With Josh Batterham
You will face off with Josh Batterham, who makes his debut on Saturday. What would you have to say to a Josh who watched your debut and anticipates the same version shows up?
Just good luck, Josh. Bring your best version of yourself because I am, and I’m coming to win whatever it takes, mate.
Your teammates will see the big improvements you’re making in the gym. However, with your family and friends coming to support you once again, where can they expect to see the biggest improvements in your game?
I believe I have improved in all aspects, but at the same time, I do believe I didn’t get to show much of my skills last time, which was what bothered me the most about the loss.
Just highlight what it would mean to you to get that first win under your belt this Saturday in the Barnsley Metrodome.
It would mean a lot to me. I do this sport because I love it, and my family and friends will be there supporting me, so yea it’s important that I get the win also need the win, as iv told my sons Jake and Billy that dad’s going to win this time, so that’s the biggest drive for me.
