Rose Namajunas is looking to climb back into the title picture with an impressive win over Tracy Cortez at UFC Denver.
Rose Namajunas Says Despite Opponent Change, Title Shot Still Could be Next
While originally scheduled to face #4 ranked Maycee Barber this weekend, Barber withdrew from the fight. A win over Barber would’ve certainly entered Namajunas into the title conversation, however when #11 ranked Tracy Cortez replaced her, things became more bleak. Not for Namajunas, who believes a title shot could still be next following a win.
“Originally, [a title shot] was kind of the idea,” Namajunas told the New York Post.
“That’s what it was looking like. And obviously, I still think that it could potentially be that. It really just kind of depends on what happens.”
Rose Namajunas: “I’m On That Next Level”
Coming into the fight, there seems to be nothing but goodwill between the fighters,
“I like Tracy. I think she’s pretty good, well-round in a bunch of different [facets],” Namajunas said.
Although ‘Thug’ Rose did give props to Cortez and her style, she feels that her skills put her on a different level of fighter.
“I think her skills that she brings to the table is going to [make her] a good opponent for me. I just believe in my skills, and I just believe that I’m on that next level.”

Will Rose Get a Title Shot Next?
Namajunas comes into the fight off a win over Amanda Ribas on a card she also headlined in March. ‘Thug’ Rose has been more active than usual, with this being her third fight in 10 months. The win over Ribas was the first win for Namajunas since November of 2021, reinvigorating her confidence. A loss to current #1 contender Manon Fioror may hold her behind others in title contention for the moment. Still, another title run is certainly in the range of outcomes for Namajunas’ future.
