Concerns are raised as Ryan “King” Garcia appears to be having a public meltdown after a series of strange posts.
The highly regarded young contender has displayed bizarre behavior as of late. Making outlandish claims in a recent podcast with controversial influencer and former World Kickboxing Champion Andrew Tate. Family, friends, and fellow boxers have sent messages of support to Garcia, who should be entering camp as faces his toughest fight yet against WBC Super-Lightweight Champion Devin Haney.
Has the “King” Lost His Crown?
Garcia‘s mental health has been the topic on most people’s lips this week, following his behavior since the first press conference of his upcoming fight with Haney. Haney and his team questioned his change of voice as well as making allegations that he was high on cocaine. Ryan admitted during the press conference that he is a regular user of cannabis and alcohol. Even posting a photo on his Instagram account smoking what appeared to be cannabis.
Ryan Garcia posted a video on the social media platform ‘X’ thanking fans for their support. He also went on to say that he does not have access to his phone, social, media, or bank accounts going as far as saying that “they are trying to throw me in jail.” The video was posted following a series of posts by the 25-year-old. One post on his Instagram reads “It’s been a fun run so far, now its time to close the show for no.”, ringing alarm bells with fans and insiders of the sport.
Ryan Garcia’s wife and brother have posted messages of support for the former Interim Lightweight Champion. Asking fans to hold him in their “thoughts and prayers”. Further concerns are being raised following his latest outburst on social media. A clip from a recent ‘Spaces’ with Andrew Tate shows Garcia making some shocking claims about the “World Elite.” On a foul-mouthed rant, he alleged he was kidnapped and forced to watch heinous crimes against children being committed. As the clip has gone viral, he’s backed up the claims further with a host of messages posted on X. Before signing off stating “I Ryan Garcia, will not be speaking or tweeting or writing anything other than my fight, boxing, and sports.”
Mind Games by Ryan Garcia?
Boxing fans appear to be on the fence as to whether this is a publicity stunt or if they are genuinely watching a person unfold. Garcia’s upcoming opponent is not convinced. Haney took to X to accuse Garcia of “trolling.” Hinting that is all an act. Devin Haney’s outspoken Father and Trainer Bill Haney also stated in a recent interview that he believes there is nothing wrong with Garcia, claiming that this is a publicity stunt.
Oscar De La Hoya has also joined in with the family messages, only this time he has told media outlets that there is nothing wrong with Garcia and he is getting ready for his next fight. This only further fueled the rumors that this apparent decline in mental health is just for the media. Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions have also not released any statements relating to Garcia’s mental health. This leaves fans asking, is this just to gain attention, or is Ryan’s health and the much-anticipated fight in jeopardy?
