Sam Creasey and Shajidul Haque will clash once again as the pair have been scheduled to battle it out for the bantamweight title at Cage Warriors 147.
The booking comes to light after Shajidul Haque dominating on the regional scene and remaining consistent with his callouts of the current bantamweight champion Sam Creasey.
Cage Warriors announced the fight via Twitter and confirmed Unplugged is back. Cage Warriors 147 will go down at the BT Sport Studios in London on November 20th.
Sam Creasey vs. Shajidul Haque Confirmed
Once upon a time, Sam Creasey and Shajidul Haque met in 2016 at Unplugged 1. A fight card headlined by Paddy Pimblett and Julian Erosa. Shajidul Haque proved to be the better man on that night, handing Sam Creasey his first professional loss. However, since then, both men’s careers have taken slightly different paths.
Sam Creasey
Since dropping the fight to Haque, Creasey returned to form and found a knack for finishing his opponents. A knack that would eventually lead him to win the vacant Cage Warriors flyweight title over Luke Shanks last year.
Following attaining Cage Warriors gold, Creasey was set to defend his belt against Shanks in a rematch at Cage Warriors 132. Shanks took the rivalry to one a piece, stopping Creasey with strikes in the first round. However, due to missing weight, Shanks was ineligible to win the belt, so the gold stayed with Creasey.
Creasey bounced back in fanatic fashion, defending his belt against Stipe Brčić and needed just the first round to get his opponent out of there. Filled with confidence, the 34-year-old will be seeking redemption over an in-form Haque.
Shajidul Haque
For Haque, his journey back to Cage Warriors has been a gritty one, willing to take on anyone, anytime, anywhere. After defeating Creasey in 2016, the Bangladesh born parted ways with Cage Warriors for four years before returning to challenge Jake Hadley at Cage Warriors 114. Unfortunately for Haque, Hadley was unbeatable, and the task proved to be a tough one, being stopped in the opening round.
The loss to Hadley was followed up with a one-year break for Haque, who pursued coaching at that time. Upon his return, it was evident that the break was a blessing in disguise. Haque began his descent back to the top with a victory over Aaron Robinson on Almighty Fighting Championship. Eventually, claiming the promotions flyweight title by defeating Igor Wojtas and successfully defended it once by defeating Elliot Hoye.
The ACE MMA representative is fresh off a split decision victory at Ares FC 6 last month. Haque was awarded the split decision. However, it was clear that Haque dominated the fight. Being in Paris, France, against a hometown fighter perhaps swayed the judges’ scorecards.
Riding a four-fight win streak and magnificent momentum, can Shajidul Haque do the double over Sam Creasey?
