Sam Creasey will defend his Cage Warriors Flyweight title at ‘Cage Warriors 148: New Year’s Eve’ against Shajidul Haque.
This fight was originally booked for CW147: Unplugged, but was postponed due to an illness suffered by Creasey.
Creasey most recently defended the belt in electric fashion against Stipe Brčić, bringing his record to an impressive 16-4 (11-4 Cage Warriors).
Meanwhile, this bout marks the return to Cage Warriors for Haque. Since dropping a loss to former Cage Warriors champion, and now UFC Bantamweight Jake Hadley, Haque has been flawless. He is undefeated in his last four fights which took place in Almighty FC and Ares FC. He will be hoping to improve on his impressive 6-2 record with Cage Warriors, and take the belt from the man whom he already defeated via decision back in 2016.
Defending the Belt
On the other hand, Sam Creasey will be aiming to successfully defend his belt for the second time. He first won the vacant strap at CW129 over Luke Shanks, before losing the rematch in his first scheduled defense. However, that fight was downgraded to a non-title fight due to Shanks missing weight. That means Creasey still holds the title. Shanks then moved up to 135 pounds, whilst Creasey then went on to defeat Brčić. Avenging his loss to Haque II would put the exclamation point on his reign at 125 pounds. It would also show how much he has developed as a fighter over the past six years.
