Savannah Marshall Debut
Savannah Marshall was an undisputed super-middleweight boxing champion. However, she is now transitioning to compete in MMA alongside boxing. Savannah Marshall will follow her fellow rival Claressa Shields when she makes her debut on the 8th of June. Marshall will step foot inside the smart cage when the PFL heads to Newcastle for PFL Europe 2.
Claressa Shields Trilogy?
Claressa Shields currently holds the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, WBF and The Ring female middleweight titles. Savannah Marshall is her biggest rival in the sport and with Savannah Marshall now moving to the MMA world can we see these two collide once again? Claressa Shields held a 64-1 amateur boxing record with her only defeat happening against Marshall. This defeat happened in the build-up to the 2012 Olympics. Since that defeat, Claressa Shields has been able to get her revenge on her rival. Shields got the decision victory over Marshall back in 2022 to level the scores to 1-1. The score is now tied and with Marshall moving into the MMA will we see a rematch in a different sport?
Savannah Marshall Isn’t the Only Big Name Signing
Savannah Marshall is not the only big-name signing the PFL has been able to complete over the recent years. They have also been able to secure the signing of the former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. The former UFC heavyweight Champion will make his smart cage debut later in the year. This will be against Renan Ferreira.
PFL has also been able to secure Youtuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul to the smart cage. Jake Paul is currently scheduled to face Mike Tyson in July this year in boxing. However, he is expected to make his smart cage debut at some point this year.
Amanda Serrano is another signing the PFL has made recently. The undisputed featherweight champion. Amanda Serrano will join Savannah Marshall and Claressa Shields in pursuing an MMA career alongside a boxing career. How will these athletes do when they move from boxing to MMA? Who will be next to be signed to the PFL banner?
