Scott Pedersen looks to show a new and improved version of himself this Saturday at Cage Warriors 156 on home soil against Yohan Salvador.
Cage Warriors 156 goes down Saturday, July.1, at Vale Sports Arena in Cardiff, Wales. Headlining the event are former Cage Warriors champion Matthew Bonner and former UFC veteran Darren Stewart. The co-headliner will see Reece McEwan make his return against Brazilian native Leonardo de Oliveira.
Wales’s own Scott Pedersen will be making his third stint competing under the Cage Warriors banner. He debuted in 2021 and fell short against Matthew Elliot and Nik Bagley, drawing with George Tanasa and defeating Marcus Lewis.
Scott Pedersen Talks Fighting in Wales
As of late, Pedersen has hit a great spell-in form picking up back-to-back first-round stoppages on the regional scene. Saturday night’s clash with Salvador marks the 26-year-olds third consecutive fight in Wales, and it’s something he relishes:
“I’m excited I get to fight in my home country, especially on cage warriors, the biggest MMA promotion in Europe. I’ve watched the likes of Brett Johns, Jack Shore, John Phillips, Jack Marshman and Lew Long, Kris Dez and many more on the Cage Warrior cards in Wales when I was younger, and now it’s my turn.”
Having already felt the pressures that come alongside competing in Europe’s premier MMA organisation, Pedersen feels in his time away he’s become well-equipped to deal with it. The Shore MMA fighter is eager to show the evolution of his game since his last fight with the promotion:
Improvements
“I feel like I’m a completely different level since I last competed on CW in all areas of the game. I’m really looking forward to showing it Saturday night.”
Pedersen will share the card with teammates Rory Evans and Reece McEwan, who now spends large portions of his camps at the Welsh gym. The featherweight standout highlights the importance of good team-morale while training with the high-level athletes at Shore MMA:
“The buzz in the gym class training with the boys has been awesome. There are always high-level rounds left, right, and centre at Shore MMA.”
The man standing across the cage from Pedersen is Yohan Salvador, a French featherweight fighter holding a record of (3-4). In preparation, Pedersen isn’t fixed on his opponent. Instead, he’s dialled in to perfecting his own skill set and letting his fists do the talking:
“Salvador looks comfy in all areas from what I’ve seen of him. But I’m more focused on my own skills and taking him out.”
