Welsh featherweight Scott Pedersen has been forced to withdraw from his fight with Cherif Larossi at Cage Warriors 142 due to illness. Undefeated prospect, Luke Riley, will step in on short notice to take on Larossi in Ebbw Vale on Saturday afternoon.
The exact nature of Pedersen’s illness is unclear at this point. However, the promotion has confirmed that Riley will be stepping in.
Cherif Larossi v Luke Riley
Larossi, who is making his Cage Warriors debut, is 1-1 as a professional. He recently picked up his first pro win in July with a third-round rear naked choke.
The Dutchman is fighting out of Team Schreiber, the team that coached former UFC heavyweight Stefan Struve. A win on Saturday will certainly put more eyes on him.
With Pedersen out, this is a chance for Riley to show he is someone to be feared. The Next Gen fighter sits at 3-0 as a pro, with all three bouts being finished via TKO.
The 23-year-old’s teammate, Matthew Bonner, will also be making the trip to Ebbw Vale to take on Oban Elliot. Riley will bring a great deal of hype with him and another big win, this time at featherweight, really makes a statement.

The card will begin with six amateur bouts before moving on to the professionals. There will be plenty of Welsh talent on show, including Elliot, Josh Reed, Aaron Aby, Steph Evans and Owain Williams.
Cage Warriors will announce the event’s schedule later today, with ten pro bouts confirmed. The whole card will be broadcast live on UFC Fight Pass. We will be bringing you more news ahead of the event. Stay tuned.
