Sean Clancy Jr. made his highly anticipated Cage Warriors debut this evening at Cage Warriors 161 in Dublin, Ireland, against Milton Afonso Cabral.
Cage Warriors made the RDS Arena their home for the night with a stellar fight card featuring eight Irishmen, including the highly-anticipated return of Paul Hughes. Hughes, the promotion’s featherweight champion, headlines the event against Belgian’s Jan Quaeyhaegens.
The co-main event sees former two-weight division Cage Warriors champion Mason Jones take on Yann Liasse in a lightweight battle.
Clancy Jr. entered the bout in fine form, and being named one of the most exciting prospects to come out of Scotland, he sure delivered. Making his professional debut earlier this year, Clancy had attained two first-round stoppages over Ben Disson and Jack Comby, which resulted in him making his Cage Warriors debut this evening.
Meanwhile, Milton Afonso Cabral came into the bout (3-4) with the experience factor on his side when it came to professional bouts. His bout with Clancy Jr. marked his fourth fight with Cage Warriors. During his time competing under the Cage Warriors banner, he defeated Paddy Wilkinson and fell short to George McManus and Khadim Dia.

One thing we learned when these two men squared off inside the Octagon is the hype is definitely warranted for the Scotsman.
The opening minute consisted of a feeling-out process with Clancy Jr moving well, utilizing feints, and looking for an opening to pounce. Prior to the 20-year-old Scot taking Cabral to the canvas, he landed a strong leg kick, which was followed up by a teep kick to his opponent’s face. Clancy Jr. secured the back and continued to land some effective ground-and-pound while remaining heavy on top.
It was the beginning of the end for Cabral, who was squeezed tight by the body lock of Clancy Jr. before being turned over and submitted by a rear-naked choke.
