Scottish prospect Sean Clancy Jr is set to kick off his 2022 fight season with an amateur welterweight contest against Aron Leo at Evolution of Combat 11. The promotion announced the fight today via their Facebook page.
Evolution of Combat 11 will occur on February 19th in the Maryhill Community Centre Halls in Glasgow, Scotland.
Evolution of Combat marks Daniel Hope’s first event of the calendar year, and he has a wide range of contests across multiple disciplines waiting for fans, such as MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing and sub-grappling matches.
Sean Clancy Jr Set Vs. Aron Leo
Higher Level MMA prospect Sean Clancy Jr (5-0) will be eager to add to the already notable amateur record he possesses on February 19th.
Clancy made his amateur debut in 2018 and has accumulated four victories by stoppage in the process, including wins over Reece Brock, Jon Ingi, Zach Marshal and Ewan Muirhead. His most recent outing came in September last year when bagging a convincing unanimous decision over Kristof Porowski.
Eighteen-year-old Clancy Jr is no stranger to facing Icelandic opposition, having defeated two in the past in Kristof Porowski and Jon Ingi. Can he add another to his résumé when faced against Aron Leo?
Aron Leo (3-0), fighting out of Reykjavík MMA, will be looking to spoil the party for the Scotsman.
The twenty-four-year-old made his amateur debut in 2019 with a decision win over Kristoffer Langerud. However, it was some time until we saw him return.
After a two-year hiatus from competition, Leo made his return in an exhibition match at Evolution of Combat 9, which saw him stop Connor Knight. Leo followed that up two months later on EOC 10 with a triangle choke victory over Robbie Dunlop.
It’s an intriguing matchup with two talented fighters looking to continue to grow as martial artists. Will the fight be contested on the ground, or will both men stand and throw leather?
