Sean O’Malley is one of the UFC’s most valuable assets, and he’s willing to throw $100k in the mix to prove it.
The UFC bantamweight champion is currently engaged in twitter exchange with Ilia Topuria, an undefeated featherweight contender in the UFC. The friendly exchange began when Topuria suggested that O’Malley should be on the prelims due to his recent PPV numbers.
Taking to Twitter, Topuria humorously wrote, “I offered to fight you, but the UFC told me that you are only good for fighting in teenagers’ places because that’s your only fan base. Our fight will never happen. After fighting Volk, I will fight Conor [McGregor], and you will come as a fan boy. After seeing your PPV numbers, the only thing I can offer you is that you fight in the preliminaries of my card.”
Sean O’Malley Sends Illia Topuira a $100k Bet Offer
O’Malley, renowned for his stunning knockout win over Aljamain Sterling to secure the UFC bantamweight title last August, quickly responded on social media. He added a twist to the banter by proposing a $100,000 wager to determine whose PPV numbers would shine brighter in their upcoming bouts.
While Topuria is gearing up to face UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 298 in February, O’Malley is preparing for a title defense against Marlon Vera in a rematch at UFC 299 in March.
Topuira Bites Back
Despite O’Malley’s friendly challenge, Topuria, boasting an impressive 6-0 record since his Octagon debut in 2020, declined the side bet. Instead, he confidently declared himself the “PPV king,” even though he has only appeared on one PPV main card during his UFC tenure.
The playful exchange between O’Malley and Topuria has injected an exciting element into their upcoming fights. Fans are eagerly anticipating how the PPV numbers will unfold during these events. As both fighters gear up for their next challenges, the banter has added an extra layer of anticipation to the buzzing world of UFC.
