Sean O’Malley is on top of the world following his career-defining KO of Aljamain Sterling this weekend at UFC 292. The 28-year-old became the youngest current champion in the UFC and has all the makings of a superstar. His win received attention from some massive names in MMA and around the world. The UFC broke character on their social media pages and posted the full, unedited finish which garnered 48.8 million views across 4 major platforms in just two days.*
Sean O’Malley Took Over Boston
Dana White revealed post-fight that the event broke the UFC’s attendance and gate records in Boston with over 18k in attendance and over $7 million made from the gate. The gate was nearly $5 million more than the previous high in Boston, with attendance over 2k more. Dana White told the media post-fight that “he [Sean O’Malley] is not becoming a star, he is a star.”
Dana White seems right, and Sean O’Malley only garnered more attention and fame following the incredible display. O’Malley’s potential as a fighter and potential for fame has yet to be realized, and will only grow more if he continues to put on performances like that.
With all the love O’Malley has received, there’s also been a fair amount of hate. The new bantamweight champion went on X following his win and replied to some of his hater’s pre-fight thoughts.

It’s clear that O’Malley is taking everything in from his big moment and is more than happy to flex on those he proved wrong. While O’Malley’s future is a big question mark, especially with all the contenders in the division, his eyes are set on former opponent Chito Vera who seems ready to get his title shot. O’Malley has also shown interest in a potential boxing match with Gervonta Davis and went back and forth with Ryan Garcia on X. No matter what happens with O’Malley next, it’s safe to say his run should be a fun and wild ride.
