It seems that the camaraderie between former UFC champion Sean Strickland and Chris Curtis has come to an end. The two fighters, who once shared a close friendship and training bond, have hit a rough patch.
Strickland and Curtis, who have been training together for years, made significant strides in the UFC as a duo. Strickland captured the middleweight title with a victory over Israel Adesanya last year, while Curtis steadily climbed the rankings.
Their friendship was so strong that they even launched a podcast called ‘The Man Dance.’ On the show, they covered a wide range of topics, showing their diverse interests despite their starkly different political views. However, recent developments suggest their bond is no longer intact.
UFC Former Champion Sean Strickland Ends Friendship With Chris Curtis
Earlier today, Strickland took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce that Curtis had blocked him on the platform. According to Strickland, the fallout stemmed from a disagreement during a sparring session, which eventually led to an argument. Strickland’s social media posts have since included jabs at his former friend, while Curtis also addressed the situation online.
Despite this rift, it seems unlikely that Strickland and Curtis will face off inside the Octagon. Both fighters remain teammates at Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas, and their professional relationship is expected to persist despite their recent social media clash.
Currently, Strickland does not have a fight scheduled. His last appearance was at UFC 302 last month, where he secured a split-decision victory over Paulo Costa. Following that bout, Strickland expressed his desire to take a break and wait for a title shot.
On the other hand, Chris Curtis hasn’t fought since April, when he suffered a split-decision loss to Brendan Allen. Curtis endured a torn hamstring in the final moments of that fight, which has kept him out of action since.
What are your thoughts on this situation? Who would you like to see Sean Strickland and Chris Curtis fight next?
