Sean Strickland reacted to his incredible title winning performance against Israel Adesanya at the UFC 293 post-fight press conference. The world of combat sports did not give Strickland much of a chance going into the title fight in Sydney, but the American proved the doubters wrong and won via unanimous decision to become the new UFC middleweight champion.
Sean Strickland Reacts at the UFC 293 Post-fight Press Conference
Strickland spoke with the media after his monumental victory down under. He said: “How did this ***hole ever get a belt? Who the f*** let his happen man? Hunter and Dana are probably like ‘this motherf*****, how the f*** did we let this f****** r****d get a belt? We f***** up. Why did we agree to this?'”
“It was pretty good, but I’m kind of over it now,” Strickland continued. I mean at the end of the day, what are we going to do? The past is the past. Move the f*** on right? What now? I’m going to go back to training. Everyone is going to congratulate me and I’ll say ‘thank you guys’ and move the f*** on. This s*** doesn’t make me happy. I actually don’t know what makes me happy at times.”

Strickland Shocks the World
To the disbelief of fans, analysts, and fighters everywhere, Strickland managed to out-strike the champion Adesanya over the five rounds. He deserved the victory, and even dropped Adesanya with a big right hand in the closing stages of the first round.
Adesanya is considered to be one of the best strikers the UFC has ever seen. The 32-year-old American did not seem to be phased by this. Strickland pushed the pace, pressured Adesanya and had a lot of success on the counter. The former champion couldn’t seem to get a foothold in the fight, and struggled to get going as Strickland used his jab and right cross effectively throughout. The underdog thoroughly deserved the victory and will have a lot of people eating crow today after that stunning performance.
Adesanya is likely to get an immediate rematch. If for any reason it does not materialise, Strickland has other options – most notably South Africa’s Dricus du Plessis.
