Seth Milne is locked in ahead of his “very exciting” matchup at Goliath Fight Series 3 on April 29th.
Milne is set for his fourth amateur outing at the Lochgelly Centre, and faces the Griphouse’s Stephen Mcbride.
Ahead of the battle, we had the opportunity of catching up with Seth Milne to get his thoughts. See what he had to say below.
Interview With Seth Milne
It’s been a while since we last caught up. The last time was before your amateur debut against Ben Masterton. A lot has happened since then. Talk me through your thoughts/feelings and recent activity since then.
So yes, a lot has definitely happened since my first fight. I have improved a lot and learned a lot. I got my first win which was a nice feeling knowing I belonged in there. Unfortunately, I lost my last one, but it’s just a learning curve. It’s more experience, there is a lot I thought of what I could have done better, but that doesn’t matter. The fights are done, and I just move on from there.
The man across from you on the night, Stephen Mcbride, fighting out of the Griphouse, enters the bout at 0-4. On paper, how are you looking at this matchup as a whole?
I find this matchup very exciting and good for me as it’s a solid opponent from a very high-level gym, and his record is not making me think it will be an easy fight as he has fought good opponents.
What are some of the biggest lessons you’ve learned so far in your early amateur career?
I think the most I’ve learned so far in my amateur career is that it is literally just amateur, so records don’t matter. As long as u show up and get experience in and do your best, then you’re winning.
Have you managed to watch any tape on Stephen ahead of the bout? Is there any areas of his game you need to be cautious of?
I have watched tape on him, I’ve watched what to be smart with, what to look out for, he trains out of a solid high-level gym, he’s fought good opponents, and he has had four fights, so he has a good experience. But he doesn’t know me, son.
