A welterweight matchup between Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson and Kevin Holland is official for December 3rd in Orlando.
Just days after an ‘official’ retirement announcement from Kevin Holland, he looks set to step back into the octagon against the veteran Stephen Thompson in the sunshine state.
The main event for the winter event originally looked to be a fight between Derek Brunson and Jack Hermansson. However, that middleweight bout will now likely take the co-main event slot.
Other fights on the card include Rafael Dos Anjos vs Bryan Barberena, Matt Schnell vs Matheus Nicolau and Marc Diakiese vs Michael Johnson.
Stephen Thompson vs Kevin Holland
Stephen Thompson (16-6-1) will look for his first win in what will be almost two years when he takes on Kevin Holland.
The once welterweight title challenger comes off the back of a tough outing against Belal Muhammad, in which he lost via unanimous decision.
The last time Wonderboy fought in the main event slot, he went all five rounds with Geoff Neal and came out victorious with a decision win.
The 39-year-old will look to find himself back in the win column in December.
Kevin Holland (23-8-0) looks to have tricked the MMA world as he has his next fight booked just days after ‘confirming’ retirement.
He returns to action following a lightning-fast fight with Khamzat Chimaev, where he was submitted in just over two minutes.
‘Trailblazer’ has recorded finish wins over Alex Oliveira, and Tim Means since making a switch to the welterweight division.
