Stipe Miocic has thrown his support behind Jake Paul as the YouTuber-turned-boxer gears up for a massive showdown against boxing legend Mike Tyson.
On November 15, The Problem Child will step into the ring for his 12th professional boxing bout. This isn’t just any fight. Paul will be facing the former unified heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, known as the “Baddest Man on the Planet.” The bout is set to take place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, with an 80,000-strong crowd expected to witness the clash of two vastly different generations. There’s a good chance it will draw one of the biggest audiences in combat sports history.
The idea of a 58-year-old Tyson fighting Paul, who is 31 years his junior, hasn’t sat well with everyone. Still, it’s hard to deny the massive interest this matchup is generating. UFC heavyweight legend Stipe Miocic is one of those eagerly awaiting fight night.
Recently, Miocic joined Jake Paul on the BS w/ Jake Paul podcast. He chatted about his own upcoming fight and took a moment to share his thoughts on Paul’s matchup against Tyson.
Stipe Miocic Backs Jake Paul to Defeat Mike Tyson
When Paul’s co-host asked him to pick a winner for the Texas showdown, Miocic’s response was short and sweet.
“I got you, babe,” Miocic said with a grin.
As the conversation continued, Miocic came back to the topic and gave a bit more insight into his support for Paul.
“I can’t wait for November 15, man,” he said. “You’re going to shock the world like you always do. You’ve got a lot of good things coming your way, you keep doing what you do, I’m proud of you.”
Once this highly anticipated fight is in the books, Paul is expected to shift his focus to mixed martial arts. Fans have been eagerly waiting for his debut under the Professional Fighters League (PFL) banner. There’s no official date yet, but the buzz around Paul’s MMA entry is growing.
Miocic Offers Jake Paul Advice on MMA Debut
Miocic offered his advice on what Paul should focus on to succeed in the cage.
“All it is is being smart on the ground, not putting yourself in a bad position where you can get choked out or arm-barred,” Miocic said. “I think he’ll be fine. If he’s just smart and listens to his coaches, I think he’ll do well.”
Miocic himself is preparing for a big fight the night after Paul’s showdown with Tyson. On November 16, he’ll return to the Octagon to challenge Jon Jones for the heavyweight title. Their fight, originally scheduled for UFC 295 last November, had to be postponed after Jones suffered a pectoral injury. This matchup will mark Miocic’s first fight since March 2021, when he was defeated by Francis Ngannou.
