Teofimo Lopez is set to headline the first of his contracted 3 fight deal in a very unique location.
In a partnership with the Ring Magazine Teofimo Lopez is rumoured to be defending his WBO title headlining a Ring Magazine show.
According to The Ring the card will be held in a very unique location.
The location in which Lopez is rumoured to return is none other than Alcatraz.
Alcatraz Island is a small island 1.25 miles offshore from San Francisco, California, United States.
The island was developed in the mid-19th century with facilities for a lighthouse, a military fortification, and a military prison.
This will be the first ever sporting event held at Alcatraz, adding another spectacle that Turki Alalshikh is providing to boxing.
The news that Lopez is headlining a Ring card has come from Turki Alalshikh owned Ring magazine.
“A source has advised The Ring that a deal is close for Ring/WBO junior welterweight champion Teofimo Lopez to headline a special Ring Magazine event – in Alcatraz! Dates in June and July are being explored.”
The Ring also confirmed this would be the first of a 3 fight deal for Teofimo Lopez.
“Lopez’s return would be the first of a three-fight collaboration with Top Rank, with the first bout under the Ring Magazine banner, and his next two in-ring appearances being part of Riyadh Season events.”

It is still unknown who Lopez will be defending his Championship belt against with Barboza Jr and Jack Catterall fighting for mandatory status this weekend.
