Terence “Bud” Crawford’s next opponent has been revealed and will provide the main event to huge night of boxing.
August 3rd will see pound for pound great Terence Crawford go up to 154 pounds to fight for the WBA and WBO Interim World Super-lightweight titles. If Crawford is successful he will become a four weight world champion and truly cement himself as pound for pound great. In the opposite corner he will face undefeated puncher and WBA champion Israil Madrimov. The fight will take place in Las Vegas and will be the first time a Riyadh Season fight has taken place outside of Saudi Arabia.
Terrance Crawford Next Fight Announced
Terence Crawford’s last fight saw him demolish Errol Spence Jr to become the Undisputed Welterweight Champion. Although there was a rematch clause in place for the pair to fight again. Terms could not be agreed and with Crawford becoming a free agent he is now set to appear on the Matchroom card. The undefeated Omaha fighter has made no secret of his ambition to become Undisputed in three different weight categories. A feat that no fighter has managed to accomplish yet.
Crawford has had a glittering career and shows no signs of slowing down. He is undefeated in 40 fights with 31 wins coming by way of knockout. Picking up world titles in three different weights. Achieving Undisputed status in both the 140 and 147 pound divisions. Bud’s only criticism is that he only fights on average one a year, but now his promotional difficulties appear to be resolved at least for now. Fans may get to see the American fight more regularly.
His opponent Madrimov turned professional in the back of 2018. As previously mentioned he has racked up 10 wins with 7 knockouts an only 1 draw. He won the WBA World Super Welterweight belt in his last outing. Beating Magomed Kurbanov by stoppage in the fifth round, becoming a world champion in just 11 fights. The Uzbek star may seem on paper to be out of his depth, taking on a fighter with of Crawford’s magnitude. But he is much bigger then his American counterpart, who began his professional career at lightweight.
Terence Crawford has not become a two weight undisputed champion for nothing and will be looking to snatch away the title from the Uzbek fighter.
