Former bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling sounded off after teammate Merab Dvalishvili beat Sean O’Malley at Noche UFC last night.
UFC 306
Last night, Merab Dvalishvili defeated Sean O’Malley via unanimous decision, avenging his teammate Aljamain Sterling in the process. Merab made history by becoming the second Georgian fighter to win UFC gold, joining Ilia Topuria who won the featherweight belt earlier this year. Both Sterling and Merab have now captured the UFC bantamweight title- an impressive achievement for both fighters who have been teammates for years before their championship runs.
Following the main event, Aljamain Sterling took to social media, continuing his trash-talk towards Sean O’Malley.
Sterling’s Comments:
“That’s what a fair fight looks like against the best guy in the world! None of that stacking deck bulls*** to get an advantage!”
“How are those parlays looking boys?! #SugaFree #YouBetTheWrongGuy #UFC306 #FunkHarbor”
“Maybe now his p***k fans will GOMD! Called a spade a spade, but I was looked at as “salty”. Karma comes around for all of us. Be respectful.”
“They were drinking Suga water and it went bad”.
Aljamain Sterling vs. Sean O’ Malley Rematch?
While Sterling celebrates this huge win for teammate Merab, it leaves fans questioning how fair his comments were towards O’Malley. Does this indicate that Sterling is still looking for a rematch in the future? Sterling has recently moved up to featherweight, citing a tough weight cut as his reasoning. However, if there were any fight that would bring him back down to 135 pounds, it would for sure be a rematch with ‘Suga’.
What are your thoughts? Should Aljamain Sterling move back down to 135 pounds for a rematch with Sean O’Malley? Let us know in the comments below!
