Jon Jones is expected to make his UFC return in March 2023 at UFC 285. UFC fans haven’t seen the former light heavyweight in the octagon in almost three years. Jon has made it clear he wants a title bout with UFC Heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.
Unfortunately for fight fans, Ngannou and the UFC have yet to confirm this bout. Ngannou is still recovering from a grade three tear in both his ACL and MCL he suffered during his fight camp against Ciryl Gane. This isn’t the only problem facing this potential bout, as Ngannou has also yet to resign with the UFC. Due to the uncertainty of Ngannou, Dana Whie has a backup if Ngannou be absent. The backup being number three ranked Curtis Blaydes.
Jon Jones Set for Comeback
This may come as a surprise to fight fans as former UFC Heavyweight Champion, and number two ranked contender Stipe Miocic has still yet to receive his rematch with Ngannou. Recently, it has been speculated that Stipe may never return to the octagon as Dana White himself admitted he is unsure of Stipe’s future in the organization.
The UFC may be having a tough time booking an opponent for Jon Jones. However, Jon has made one thing very clear. He wants to fight and plans on returning in 2023. Jon is one of the biggest draws in UFC history, and no fan could imagine the UFC passing on the opportunity to book a Jon Jones fight given a chance.
