As Golden Ticket Fight Promotions gears up for its 28th event on March 29 at the KK Steelmill in Wolverhampton, one of the night’s most anticipated matchups features Deaf MMA fighter and former DWCS alumnus, Thomas Paull. Set to face Dean Trueman in a professional lightweight bout, Paull is feeling confident, prepared, and determined to put on a show for fight fans.
We caught up with Paull ahead of his return to action to discuss his mindset, camp changes, and what supporters can expect on fight night.
Thomas Paull in Great Mindset Ahead of MMA Return
After a busy start to the year, Paull feels he’s in the best place mentally and physically. A fresh approach to training has reignited his hunger for competition.
“I am feeling great, pleased with things come out for me,” he shared. “I started this year good with explored other gyms around England. I need to open my eyes up and I definitely did. Now I am with FightZone, coaches are in there are amazing. Learned so much.”
Paull’s passion for MMA is clear, and when asked about how he first got into the sport, his response was typically honest and humorous.
“Because we are mad people,” he laughed. “Don’t want to be on boring journey.”
Facing a Former Champion
On March 29, Paull will stand across the cage from former Cage Warriors champion Dean Trueman, an opponent he’s fully aware will bring a tough test.
“He’s former CW champion so of course I accepted him because I want to get back where I was but better,” Paull explained. “So he’s the great opponent to go through. I expect the same outcome as usually.”
As for where Paull sees an opening to finish the fight, he didn’t mince his words.
“Everyone’s chin is my hole!” he said with a grin.
It’s Me vs. Me
While opponents are always a focus, for Paull, this fight is a personal challenge. After making changes in his camp, he’s eager to test himself.
“Oh man, everything,” he said when asked about his biggest goal for the bout. “After all what happened, new coach and that. I am very looking forward to test meself, every fight is not about them. It’s me vs me.”
For those who will be watching Thomas Paull fight for the first time, he promises entertainment from start to finish.
“You can expect exciting fight between 2 men to make their way to the top once again!”
When it comes to how he sees the fight ending, Paull was clear—and quick.
“Don’t blink otherwise you will miss the moment.”
