The K.K Steelmill will be the host of violence on March 5th. Golden Ticket Fight Promotions 18 goes down on that night. The main event is the highly anticipated lightweight title fight between Thomas Paull and Perry Goodwin. This contest has a lot of eyes on it and is nigh-on guaranteed to justify the hype surrounding the fight.
Both fighters come into this bout very confident and are willing to do anything to get their hand raised. However, only one will leave GTFP18 as the lightweight champ.
I had the privilege to speak to current light-welterweight champion Thomas Paull. Here is what he had to say about his upcoming bout.
Interview with Thomas Paull
This fight is huge for you, an opportunity to become the champ-champ at Golden Ticket Fight Promotions; how confident are you coming into this one?
Absolutely huge! There’s never been a double champ before in the professional divisions for GTFP, so I am trying to make history. On top of it, the fighter who is going to do that is deaf too. Anything is possible if you believe in yourself.
You’ve finished every single one of your wins, do you see the same happening come March 5th?
Of course. What else would I come here for? I’m coming to finish the fight, and that’s what I’ll be satisfied with.
Paull Talks Training and Experiences
Having someone like Jon Haggerty around and training under Steve Cooke is huge, do you feel as though that gives you a big advantage coming into this fight?
To be able to train in his gym is fantastic because it’s Jon Haggerty; his children are legendary! Watching Jonathan Haggerty workout is such inspiration! I am grateful to have Steve as my head coach because when I came to his class for the first time, it was an MMA class. I was clueless about grappling skills. Steve noticed it and 2 years later my grappling skill, and much more, have leveled up so much. I wouldn’t have done any of this without him.
You’ve had some sessions with a few fantastic guys like Arnold Allen and Patrick Martin over the past few months – how important has this been in your preparation?
Oh yeah, it has helped a lot. I like to test myself too, so I know where I stand. Learning and seeing their training always gives me more motivation as everyone has much different training styles.
Congratulations on your victory in your boxing bout on the 19th of February, how do you feel coming out of that fight?
Thanks. I feel good but I was so gutted I didn’t make his legs stay wobbling! His chin was solid, fair enough. I believe I had a good fight against him.
There seems to be a bit of bad blood between yourself and Goodwin; are you taking this personally or is it strictly business for you?
Yes, I am taking it personally. There can’t be two winners on the night, one of us has got to take it (the win) away. His mustache will be coming off soon.
Thomas Paull Reveals What He Expects From the Contest
How do you see yourself getting the victory at Golden Ticket Fight Promotions 18?
I can see myself knocking out Perry in the second round.
Why should people tune in to watch your upcoming fight? What can they expect to see?
They can expect a violent fight and possibly a blood-fest. We both like to pressure so it will be a firework of blood.
I always end with this question; is there anything you want to say before the cage door closes?
Close the door!
