After a fantastic card from top to bottom by Golden Ticket Fight Promotions, CSUK’s Chris Simpson got a few words from event winner Thomas Paull, where they went through his reaction to the fight and what’s next.
As we got to the last fight of the night, GTFP fans gathered in anticipation for what was next to come, a fight with the 155-pound belt on the line. All eyes were on Thomas Paull and Perry Goodwin, and the expectations were high after some explosive main card bouts beforehand.
Both men looked locked in as they stood across the cage from each other, moments before they would be allowed to lay it all on each other. Paull came out strong, looking confident in his striking. In RD1, a strong leg kick came from Paul, knocking Goodwin slightly off balance. Before Goodwin had the chance to think about how he would counter this, he was met with a five punch combination, the last of the 5 being a rock-solid left hand, which caught him right on the button. The champ had his opponent out cold and followed up with some ground strikes just to make sure before the ref pulled him off. Following the astounding win, Paull spoke with Combat Sports UK:
Thomas Paull Post Fight Interview
Analysing the fight as a whole, he said:
“It was cruel, it was brutal… I believe that I’ve broke his jaw… I told you I’d give you fireworks and that’s exactly what I did.”
He also touched on what was next for him and his career:
“Right now, I’m just going to enjoy myself… I’m going to have a party with my friends and family who came to support me tonight… Tomorrow there’s going to be lots of phone calls, Chris [GTFP talent relations executive] is going to be busy tomorrow.”
