In what will be their third show in November, CW will return this Sunday for Cage Warriors 147. The event will take place at the BT Sport Studios in London and is ‘invite-only’.
As well as this, the night will be split into two fight cards. The first, which was originally set to be headlined by flyweight champion Sam Creasy and Shajidul Haque. However, due to illness, the champ has had to pull out of this intriguing rematch. Therefore, the new headliner will be the former middleweight champion, Matthew Bonner, as he takes on Alan Carlos.
The second show will see George Hardwick put his lightweight belt on the line against Chris Bungard. Each of the two cards is still subject to change, as is the order of bouts. However, with yet another exciting CW card just days away, here are three fights that you won’t want to miss.
George McManus v Omran Chaaban
Here’s a fight between two guys who will not be leaving it up to the judges. George McManus has been with the promotion since 2018 now and has experienced his share of ups and downs. Since his debut with CW, he hasn’t gotten to the third round in any of his four fights. Going 2-2 against some top-quality opponents.
“The Hangman” secured a first-round submission on his debut, a reverse triangle choke against Josh Plant. However, back-to-back KO defeats against Ian Garry and Oban Elliot meant his momentum was halted. Almost a year later, he was back with a dominant first-round finish over Milton Afonso Cabral. The Englishman has never gone the distance in any of his fights.
His opponent, Omran Chaaban, is looking to make it two wins in 2022 after an excellent return back in May. The Finish-born fighter impressed at CW137 when he defeated Jack Dedames via anaconda choke in round one. Since then, “The Lebanese Gorilla” has been waiting for his chance to make yet another statement.
Now training in Dublin with some of Cage Warriors’ finest, such as James Webb, Ryan and Adam Shelley. This fight can’t be missed as they compete on the second show of the night.
Matty Byfield v Daniel Ladero
The Team Renegade fighter is always destined for an all-out war, and that isn’t going to change this Sunday. “The White Gorilla”, Daniel Ladero will make his debut with CW after going 3-0 as a professional.
Known for his tricky submissions and devastating wrestling power, the Spaniard will look to control this fight from the start. He brings with him a great deal of personality and the skills that match it. This light-heavyweight fight could produce a brutal finish from one of these two men.
Morgan Charriere v Daniel Bažant
Former featherweight champion Morgan Charriere returns to action as he takes on newcomer Daniel Bažant. Charriere is coming off two defeats to the new champion, Paul Hughes and the former champ, Jordan Vucenic. Those two defeats in 2021 will be a distant memory this time around as the Frenchman looks to kick off his 2022 in a big way.
One of the most experienced fighters on the card, “The Last Pirate” is ready to show why he deserves another crack at gold. An excellent boxer, who packs a great deal of power, is always looking to get you out of there quickly.
Bažant enters this tough debut scrap riding a three-fight win-streak. The Croatian could be a standout in London this week if he can maximise his skill and defeat the former champion. Statements are ready to be made in this featherweight bout.
We will be covering the event right here as Cage Warriors 147: Unplugged goes down this Sunday. Stay tuned.
