Molly McCann is one of the fastest-rising names in the entire sport. Back-to-back spectacular knockouts, her latest just last Saturday at UFC London. Continuing to deliver highlight reel finishes, the scouse star continues to grow as she shines bright in the MMA world.
From signing with Barstool to having her own documentary, she’s now even got megastar celebrities’ attention. With the likes of Drake and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson taking note.
It hasn’t always been like this for “Meatball”. From humble beginnings. She used to work in the fast food chain Subway before she found her way to mixed martial arts. A fan of boxing, she began there but quickly developed and started training in MMA.
Cage Warriors Run
Cage Warriors is the biggest and best promotion in the UK. Housing a litany of all-time great UK and Irish talent over the years. From Michael Bisping to Conor McGregor, Molly has added her name to the list. Delivering at Cage Warriors isn’t easy. To become a champion takes a lot and those who do usually go on to achieve big things in their careers.
The now 32-year-old made her Cage Warriors debut on April 1st 2017. Competing against Lacey Schuckman she won the fight via split decision. Just over six months later she would return to the cage on October 28th. Her second appearance saw her take on Priscila de Souza. She won this fight via unanimous decisions.
Now two wins from two Molly had seemingly earned herself a title shot. Just four months after her last victory it was time to fight for the Vacant Flyweight Championship.
Winning the Gold
February 24th 2018, Cage Warriors 90. This was the date Molly McCann challenged Bryony Tyrell for the 125 lbs belt. Coming off the back of two decisions it was time to make a statement and win the belt in style.
The first round saw Molly press the action. Coming forward and swinging bombs, she was looking for the kill.
The second continued in the same vein with Molly landing big. With around three and a half minutes on the clock. After a failed takedown attempt from Bryony, Molly unleashed a barrage of vicious punches which saw the ref step in.And new! She had just won the belt with a TKO victory in the second.
After this performance she was signed to the UFC. As they say, the rest is history. Now taking the promotion by storm she is one of the biggest names in women’s MMA and is must-watch entertainment.
