The bantamweight division is among the most stacked in the UFC today, with many extraordinary fighters competing at 135. A potential matchup that may happen is a contest between Henry Cejudo and Merab Dvalishvili. It is a mouthwatering clash to think about, and many people will tune in to watch it. The champion, Sean O’Malley’s Coach Tim Welch, gave his thoughts on the fight when talking on his podcast.
Could Henry Cejudo Vs Merab Dvalishvili Happen
Cejudo is one of the greatest fighters to ever step foot inside of the octagon. He is an Olympic gold medallist and is a former two-weight champion. The American fighter recently returned to action after a sabbatical away from the sport. However, he lost in a title fight against Aljamain Sterling. A battle with Dvalishvili would be an interesting one, as they are both great wrestlers and are ranked high in the division. Dvalishvili is an excellent fighter and would provide a fantastic opponent to the legendary Cejudo.
Tim Welch On The Fight
As a champion, O’Malley must keep a close eye on his division and his coach gave his thoughts on the matchup when speaking on his podcast.
“Merab-Henry, they’re talking about it for UFC 297… Three rounds, I’m so curious how that fight goes,” Welch said. “Everyone pictures Henry as the old Henry. I don’t know if Henry’s the same Henry that he was before. But in a 15-minute fight, Henry’s smart enough to negate what Merab’s good at: putting you on the fence and holding you there.
“I think he could negate that, and Henry’s boxing a little bit sharper than Merab’s,” Welch continued. “You don’t know until it happens, but Henry would beat him if I had to pick in that fight. But many people I ask say that Merab would beat him.”
